観光によるアジア太平洋地域の持続可能な開発
国際アジア太平洋観光センター（iCAPt）では、APUの「自由、平和、人類」の哲学に基づいて、アジア太平洋地域の未来を形作る上での観光およびホスピタリティ産業の役割を研究しています。 私たちは、研究と教育における伝統的な知識とコミュニティの関与を大切にしています。 本センターは、地元のコミュニティや業界と力を合わせて人材を教育し、コミュニティベースの観光と持続可能性のベストプラクティスを共有するためのプラットフォームを提供します。 私たちAPU研究員は、地域から募った客員研究員と協力し、アジア太平洋地域および世界中の社会に貢献することを目指します。
スマートコミュニティツーリズムウェビナーシリーズ（SCoT）―公共の自由なアクセスを提供
新型コロナウイルス感染拡大による危機に直面し、当センターは環境、社会経済、一般人の視点からウェビナーシリーズを開催し、オンライン環境を整備しました。この場では、地域社会、指導者、学術研究機関がアイデアを交換し、アジア太平洋地域および世界において、このような重大な出来事による影響から得られる学びを共有することができます。この新しいウェビナーシリーズは世界的規模の危機に直面する中、弾力性、回復力を創造する力となるよう、 学術研究機関、地域コミュニティ、行政・民間企業および国際機関間の連携のためのオンライン動作環境を提供することを目的としています。過去のウェビナーはwww.scotwebinars.orgにアクセスして見ることができます。私たちはウェビナーの成果が、地域から世界規模に及ぶ開発資源の持続的利用に役立つことを大事にしています。このような方法で当センターは、コロナ禍とその後を見据え、アジア太平洋の開発において他分野にまたがる観光研究を通じて、関係者間のネットワークとその関わり合いの強化を探求します。

（2）大分地域の知見と経験に基づくインクルーシブ教育
アジア太平洋観光国際センターは、包括的な教育プログラムとコースを通じて、観光とホスピタリティの分野における理論と実践を結びつけることを試みています。 地域の専門家やコミュニティのメンバーをゲスト講師として招き、コミュニティや農村開発、環境、持続可能性のさまざまな側面に関する知識を学生とともに共有します。 コミュニティベースの学習（CBL）や大分遺産などの特定のコースは、地域と大学のリンクを強化するプログラムの代表例です。
社会の責任ある一員として、グローバルに考えながら地域社会で行動するために、私たちは将来の若いリーダーたちと一緒に地域を訪問し、地域の伝統と文化を尊重し、人類の遺産に貢献し、観光を有益な活動として実践しています。
